Higher Definition Media

Cinematic, Artistic & Creative Video Production

Bakersfield

A brief introduction to our latest Feature Film!

HDM is in pre-production of it’s third feature film! The journey of this film, entitled “The Measure of a Man”, started back in November of last year when Elizabeth Waite, inspired by her own true story and the unforgettable memories of her father, began to write her first screenplay.  She brought it to the attention of HDM and pre-production started almost immediately.  Fast forward to today and her screenplay, originally titled “Songs my Father Sang”, is well on it’s way to becoming a reality!  We’ve worked countless hours on pre-production work including casting, permits, location searches, etc. and finally we’ll start our 5 week shoot on July 5th with some of the most talented cast and crew ever.  I can’t express how excited I am to be involved! I can’t say this enough but it’s a really great script and it’s going to make for one amazing film!

“After being raised in an Oklahoma orphanage, 15 year-old Donald makes his way to California during the depression. He meets Emogene, the daughter of poor migrant farm laborers, and together they set out to break the cycle of poverty and ignorance.

This is the inspiring true story of Donald P. Bailey, a charming, and eccentric father of nine, who’s charisma and optimism set him apart from the average dad. But his golden voice made him a legend to his posterity for generations. His unique life is remembered through the eyes of his daughter, Elizabeth.”

More updates to come including casting, our first meet-up with the cast, the story behind the Sunset house and a Bailey family photo! To see clips from our other two films, Stamped! and Phase Two, check out our Film/TV Gallery.

“Weddings 2010″ Bridal Show

For the Kern County Bridal Association “Weddings 2010″ Bridal Show we really stepped up our game.  We’ve collaborated with 4 other business; Freestyle Entertainment, Artisan Photography, Grandeur Productions & Flourishing Art.  In doing so we made a bold decision to break down the dividers and combine our booths to form one magnificent booth!

The show was very well attended and we had a really great time meeting and talking with the numerous Brides and Grooms To-Be!  I’m more excited than ever now about this year!

We filmed a 3 day time lapse of the entire event complete from start to finish so stay tuned for it.

The Ultimate Bridal Event 2010

It was such a privilege to be amongst so many great wedding vendors and have the amazing opportunity to exhibit at The Ultimate Bridal Event this past Sunday at the Rabobank.

Brides and grooms “to-be” along with their mom’s, dad’s, siblings and friends lined up outside the Rabobank to get a first hand look at what the wedding community has to offer them for their dream wedding. Just before noon the doors were opened and the Bridal Show was officially kicked off.

One 56 inch HDTV, One 48 inch television and Four 24 inch Apple Cinema Displays! No… I’m not talking about a Best Buy store, I’m referring to our killer booth at The Ultimate Bridal Event! We felt that the best way to present our product was to simply show it.  We take pride in every wedding film we produce so we were certainly not shy about showing them off.

We met with SO many amazing brides and grooms and had the wonderful opportunity to discuss with them the details of their wedding and show them what Higher Definition Media has to offer. Personally it was my very first Bridal Show so I was pretty nervous but ultimately I feel pretty good about it. The show was really well attended which made it even better!

HDM = CSI | Video Forensics

So HDM was recently hired to do some “video forensics”… don’t know what video forensics is? Neither did we… nah, just kidding. Video forensics is something that is most often seen in movies and shows like CSI… you know, where they take some crummy surveillance video and “enhance” it and in the process solve some sort of crime or mystery. If you’re still not sure, allow THIS VIDEO to demonstrate.

Anyway, unfortunately Hollywood has a way of making impossible things a reality… sorry if I ruined anything for you, but it’s not as easy as pushing a button on your keyboard that will magically take a low resolution video and turn it into HD so you can read the numbers off a license plate. However, HDM was recently hired to clean up some video and do some interesting things with some surveillance footage from the BPD that will most likely determine a criminal case. I am also headed to court on Thursday to be an “Expert Witness” with this newly “Enhanced” video that will no doubt change to tides, so to speak. Pretty cool stuff, I wish I could talk more about it or even post clips or something, but obviously that’s not possible at this time. Hopefully if all goes well I will not have to be entered into witness protection or anything like that… just kidding!

2009 KCBA Christmas Party

The HDM team recently attended the annual Kern County Bridal Association (KCBA) Christmas party held at the Moorea Banquet Center in Bakersfield, CA on December 13th, 2009.  We enjoyed a delicious dinner provided by Champs BBQ and enjoyed the company of our fellow bridal vendors. The raffle was great with some really nice traditional gifts mixed with a hilarious money grab prize. Jared and Mark from Freestyle entertainment provided the lighting and entertainment and the entire event was documented with photos by Jennifer Williams Photography. Before leaving we couldn’t resist but get an HDM team photo taken in the photo booth provided by Sit N’ Grin.  We had such a great time and can’t wait for the next Bridal Association mixer!

Kathleen + Daniel | Wedding Film

What a blast this wedding was! Kathleen & Daniel where such a joy to work with and we are so glad we got the chance to shoot their wedding! It was a beautiful day at Seven Oaks Country Club. Kathleen was beaming all morning, she had to be one of the most excited brides we have ever worked with! We had good fun with the groomsmen who even managed to get some golf in before the ceremony. The ceremony at St. Josephs was beautiful, they had already put up their GIANT Christmas trees and had the place decorated beautifully!

The wedding was a huge success, a lot of which was attributed to such great vendors! Brenna from Seven Oaks, as always, did a wonderful job of keeping things on schedule. Artisan was WONDERFUL to work with, as always, and took some AMAZING photos, which of course made our job a lot easier. Freestyle Entertainment had the dance floor PACKED the entire night… no really, there was SO MUCH energy on the dance floor and it NEVER died down the entire night… even after the bride and groom left! All these things and more made for a wonderful wedding!

Congrats to Kathleen and Daniel! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day!

Phase Two Teaser Trailer

As promised here is the Phase Two Teaser Trailer that premiered at the 2009 Bakersfield Comic Con.  If you’re interested in watching more clips from the movie you can check out the Phase Two facebook page. Principle photography for Phase Two is completed, now it’s just a matter of editing, and then on to the PREMIER!

In the meantime check out other films we’ve produced in our FILM/ TV GALLERY.

Phase Two at Comic Con!

HDM’s second feature film Phase Two, was recently featured at the Bakersfield Comic Con on November 8th! We were privileged to attend in support of the film that we’ve worked so hard on. A few of the Phase Two actors even attended including Jessica Erin Sylvia, Robin Steffen, Shawn Piccinino, and Paul Wolverton.  The turnout was pretty good and the reaction from the audience was great.  It was really nice getting to catch up with everyone from the movie and hear all about their new and upcoming projects.  It was SO nice to get to attend Comic-Con and the Phase Two trailer premier!  It gave me just a little taste of what the actual movie premier is going to be like and I can’t wait for that day!  We will certainly keep you, our dedicated readers, informed about the progress of the movie and can’t wait to see YOU at the premier.

We’re hoping to get the actual movie trailer up soon but until then here’s a clip from the feature film Phase Two.

Dominique + Alexander | Basque Wedding Film

What can I say about these two?  Just looking at them you can tell they’re a match made in heaven.  Their wedding day was absolutely amazing!  Starting from beginning to end everything turned out great.  The bride had a smile that could beat out any Miss Americas’. Jeana at Jeana J’s provided Nikki with a GORGEOUS gown! The bridesmaids and the groomsmen made an extremely great looking bridal party, one of the largest I’ve ever seen!  The ceremony took place at Saint Josephs, a beautiful catholic church located in downtown Bakersfield.  When the doors opened the isles filled quickly and quietly as so many friends and family came out to show their support and witness such a blessed event.  The ceremony turned out amazing!  It was very traditional which was a real pleasure to take part in and even ended with a traditional basque dance to honor the newlyweds.

Afterwords it seemed only fitting to CELEBRATE!  The bridal party all headed back over in the “party bus” just in time for some pictures outside the lovely Stockdale Country Club.  The photographers, Jessica Frey and Jennifer Williams, did an amazing job! They worked really well with us and were very professional and friendly.

Inside, the party was just getting started and the festivities kicked off starting with some really great toasts.  One in particular from the grooms father (and best man) was particularly touching.  The entire day the bride and groom looked amazing! Everything went off without a hitch and everything happened right on schedule as it should be thanks to Tracey from Attention to Detail.

I wanted to once again thank the bride and groom for letting Higher Definition Media be a part of their special day.  I can’t wait to see what Andy has in store for their footage!

Jeana + AJ | Wedding Film

We had the honor and privilege of capturing on film the wedding of a close friend and one of Bakersfield’s best dress shop owners.  Jeana J looked amazing in her dress and her new husband looked pretty dang handsome himself.  They were so much fun to shoot and needed NO direction at all.  Seriously these two could be models!  They had an outside ceremony which turned out beautiful and the weather was absolutely perfect. We had the pleasure of working with Artisan once again! They are always a lot of fun to work with!

There is nothing like being strapped to the back of a moving golf cart with the bride and groom following along in a cart of their own. He also got a chance to experiment with some slow motion shots that turned out really cool.  Rio Bravo Country Club made for one amazing backdrop to an amazing couple.  The fun continued with an entertaining bridal party introduction and a fun and surprising twist to the traditional daddy/ daughter dance which kicked off some fun dancing with music provided by Freestyle Entertainment and a very delicious dinner.  We took some fun video of the bride and groom getting their pictures taken together in a photo booth which turned out to be really fun.  The whole day went on without a hitch and everything turned out great.

I am SO happy we got the opportunity to film their special day and I can’t wait to show them the final result.

Congratulations again to the new Mr. and Mrs. Gallemore!
