Cinematic Wedding Films
Here is a short “getting to know us” video that gives a little insight into us, our work, motivation and general love for what we do. Watch & enjoy!
Kim’s Engaged!
My Christmas was definitely a merry one as my boyfriend totally surprised me by proposing! I had no idea it was coming. He made sure my family was in town and made a really special night. After reading off 100 reasons why he will love me forever, he got down on one knee and asked the question I could only answer with one thing, “Of course, yes!”
I’ll keep you updated on when the wedding will be and let you know the details each step of the way. I hope your Christmas was as blessed as mine was!

2009 KCBA Christmas Party
The HDM team recently attended the annual Kern County Bridal Association (KCBA) Christmas party held at the Moorea Banquet Center in Bakersfield, CA on December 13th, 2009. We enjoyed a delicious dinner provided by Champs BBQ and enjoyed the company of our fellow bridal vendors. The raffle was great with some really nice traditional gifts mixed with a hilarious money grab prize. Jared and Mark from Freestyle entertainment provided the lighting and entertainment and the entire event was documented with photos by Jennifer Williams Photography. Before leaving we couldn’t resist but get an HDM team photo taken in the photo booth provided by Sit N’ Grin. We had such a great time and can’t wait for the next Bridal Association mixer!
Happy Holidays from HDM!
After a crazy year we’re happy to announce that we’re finishing the year out stronger than ever! We’re excited with what new experiences and opportunities await us and look forward to continued success in 2010. We wish you good health, happiness, and prosperity in the New Year. Have a wonderful Holiday Season!
Sincerely,
The HDM Team

What CAN’T Kim do?!?
Last week Kim Mendenhall joined the HDM team. We are very excited about having Kim on board, she has gone to school for video production and is very talented and skilled. Kim brings a lot to the table, both in the editing bay AND out in the field. This girl knows her way around Final Cut Pro and is quickly bringing a lot of new ideas and a fresh look to her projects! After all, it’s OUR TEAM that gives us our competitive advantage! We are very glad to have her. Welcome Kim!

Phase Two at Comic Con!

HDM’s second feature film Phase Two, was recently featured at the Bakersfield Comic Con on November 8th! We were privileged to attend in support of the film that we’ve worked so hard on. A few of the Phase Two actors even attended including Jessica Erin Sylvia, Robin Steffen, Shawn Piccinino, and Paul Wolverton. The turnout was pretty good and the reaction from the audience was great. It was really nice getting to catch up with everyone from the movie and hear all about their new and upcoming projects. It was SO nice to get to attend Comic-Con and the Phase Two trailer premier! It gave me just a little taste of what the actual movie premier is going to be like and I can’t wait for that day! We will certainly keep you, our dedicated readers, informed about the progress of the movie and can’t wait to see YOU at the premier.
We’re hoping to get the actual movie trailer up soon but until then here’s a clip from the feature film Phase Two.
HD Expo Convention 2009
The HDM team was able to attend this years HD EXPO that took place at the Burbank Marriott on November 4th and 5th. This was my first year attending and Andrews 3rd. We had a good time there, got to see lots of new and intriguing things, and got to add tons of new stuff to our wish list. One highlight was getting to handle the new Cannon 1D MKIV. It’s a real beauty! A lot of awesome vendors like Zacuto and Redrock Micro participated and it was a real treat to walk around and get to talk with the reps from each of the different companies. I learned so much and it was easy to get caught up in the excitement of the event.
Zombie High – The Premiere!
The Arts Council of Kern, the Kern Regional Center and Joey Travolta’s Inclusion Films teamed up to offer a creative arts workshop for citizens with disabilities. As a result, disabled filmmakers were able to write and direct a 30-minute feature entitled Zombie High.
HDM was able to help in the production of Zombie High by providing audio recording and editing for the film. It was such a great experience. It was an honor to work alongside Joey and also the students of the workshop. They were great and had such big hearts and bright personalities.
On Oct. 22 Zombie High premiered at the Fox Theater and we were more than happy to attend the special event and support the film. All the people involved worked really hard and everyone did a really great job. The film was very entertaining! I can honestly say “I loved it”! A mix between a zombie flick and the 80’s movie “The Breakfast Club” the movie turned out brilliant! It was funny and clever and left me wishing it was more than a short which made the announcement that a full-length feature film was soon to be in the works even more exciting. I can’t wait to see what more comes from these inspiring young actors and filmmakers and hope to be involved in their upcoming projects.
Day of Play | Family Shoot
The other day when I had a day off I shot some video of the kids… Well, I finally got around to doing something with that footage. I came up with this quick little video, check it out and let me know what you think.

Kern Projections Festival Awards Dinner
Over the past few weeks Higher Definition Media has been actively involved with the first annual Kern Projections Film Festival. We had the opportunity to donate both time and equipment to help make the festival a success and in return we received a special invitation to the awards dinner! It was a huge honor to be able to attend, especially since the tickets went for $150 per plate. The dinner took place at the Metro Galleries in downtown Bakersfield. It felt like a real night at the Oscars! We enjoyed a beautiful 3 course meal and later watched as each award was handed out to it’s well deserving director.
